Mindful warming up exercise

Mindful stretching or warming up is about engaging in exercises and body movements, while paying attention to the physical sensations of the muscles you're using. It increases muscle flexibility and joint range of motion.

How is it done?

To mindfully warm up, bring your attention to the feeling in your body as you engage in this exercise. Pay attention to the motion of your body, the feeling on your skin, how your legs and arms move, and your breathing. Occasionally check in with what's happening in your mind as you're warming up. Maybe it's relatively calm and quiet or maybe it's filled with lots of thoughts about the past or future. If you notice yourself getting caught up or distracted by your thoughts while warming up, bring your focus back to the physical sensations in your body and your breathing. This will help you get the most out of your warm-up session.

What is it good for?

Mindfully warming up allows you to be calm and balance yourself, which can be incredibly helpful, especially if you feel nervous or anxious playing in a big game or tournament. Mindful stretches help to tune into your body and prepare for physical activity.
