Ki, or diaphragmatic breathing, are warm up exercise for strengthening the diaphragm and creating connection with the group.

How to do it?
Students form a wide circle and breath synchronously.
- To inhale, slowly breathe in through the nose, drawing the breath down toward the stomach. The stomach should extend forward, while the chest remains still and shoulders are relaxed and down.
- To exhale, tighten the abdominal muscles and let the stomach contract while exhaling through the mouth. Again, the chest should remain still.
What is it good for?
Diaphragmatic breathing reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol in the body, reducing symptoms of stress and anxiety. It improves core muscle stability and lowers possibility of an injury. Breathing together creates connection and support within the group.
