Finska game

Finska is a dynamic warmup game for a group of 6-16 people, focused on physical development and group interaction. This game was jointly developed by children and instructors at Dokiai Dojo.

How to play

The game is played with a soft ball that participants can grab with one hand. The player with the ball throws it to hit another player. Before throwing the ball, a player can only run a fixed amount of steps (3 to 5) and perform a forward (or backward) roll.

The goal of the game is to not get hit. The penalty of getting hit is 5 push-ups or some other physical action. If a player catches the ball he/she is not penalised. If the ball misses a player, someone who picks it up continues the game.

What is it good for?

Finska is a fun warm up activity that encourages positive energy between players. It creates a playful context to learn forward and backward rolls, which are great skills to avoid injuries. It is also a good way for children to practice awareness of their surroundings in fast changing situations.
