Dare to fall

Exercise for 7-9 students aimed at conquering fear and developing trust.

Required equipment

Two benches or other material that makes a safe fall possible.
How is it done?
  • Step 1 - Put two benches on top of each other on the tatami (mat).
  • Step 2 - At least six students will form a safety net, standing face to face and holding each other’s arms firmly.
  • Step 3 - A student stands on the benches, crosses his arms, and falls backward while keeping his body and legs straight
  • Step 4 - The other students catch him and break his fall.
  • Step 5 - Everybody applauds the one who has conquered his fears.

What is it good for?

This exercise helps to experience fear (falling) in a safe situation (in dojo) and develops trust in the other students. Students will be able to cope more easily with fear and stay calm in everyday situations. It will also help to develop trust, which enables students to trust themselves and other people more easily in difficult situations.
